Pirated software is not something most digital forensic examiners would consider as an option when processing case work, whether they’re certified in their area of expertise or just starting out in their discipline. That’s what I believe, anyway.

On Wednesday, March 9th at 10:00 AM PST (1:00 PM EST) I will be hosting a LIVE online tour of the members area. This brief tour is to provide new and long-time members with a quick overview of navigating the members area and locating the multiple resources within. The tour will last approximately 10-15 minutes and be followed by a short Q & A session, if necessary. Seating is limited. Do you use a YubiKey or the Google Authenticator app? The latter is free, and now you can use either of them to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) here at DME Resources.
Simply log-in and choose "Edit Profile" from the Control Panel, then select your preferred method from the drop-down options for "Authentication Method".
Follow the prompts that will be shown to configure, then press the "Update" button displayed at the bottom of the page.

Mozilla has announced the availability of Firefox 4 beta 8, a new pre-release milestone build of the open source Web browser. Beta 8 brings better support for WebGL and introduces an improved setup process for Firefox Sync that simplifies the steps for configuring the synchronization service across multiple devices.
Perian, the "Swiss Army knife for QuickTime," has decided to cease development after six years on the market. The Perian team posted a notice to its users this week, saying that the software is "as complete as it will ever be under our stewardship." Though we can't disagree with the team's reason for wanting to move on, Perian's retirement is a bittersweet reminder of the earlier days of Apple, when watching videos of different codecs was a challenge on the Mac.

Two new features introduced this week allow members to easily share their profile with non-members, should they so choose. Members can now choose if they'd like to allow non-members to view their profile by editing their profile options; the default is set to not allow non-members to view your profile.
Additionally, members can now create their own custom URL to their profile page. The custom URL can be set right from the member's profile page, and can be changed to whatever you like (e.g. http://www.media-geek.com/larryc will bring visitors directly to my profile, which I've set to allow public view). Furthermore, members can now choose as to whether they want visitors to their profile to be able to view their personal files/images via the associated settings tab when editing your profile.
