HP made some big product announcements today that I've been patiently waiting for.  My patience is wearing thin though, as the two devices I am most anxious to get my hands on won't be out until this summer.  I was a bit peeved earlier when I heard that, but there's no doubt I'll wait rather than jump ship to another OS (he says as he writes this post from his original Palm Pre).

For those who have spent any time with all of the major mobile operating systems, it has been clear from day one webOS has the most potential.  True multi-tasking is a biggie, and nobody does it better.

Yes, I'll wait for the Pre 3 and HP Touchpad, but I'd better get a nice loyalty discount HP! 😉

Remember those days? Back when your beeper went off and people would glare at you? Pull out a snazzy 3-Watt bag phone in the early '90’s and chances are someone was calling you an arrogant ass under their breath. New technology brings new social challenges, but don’t condemn it before you have had it in your hands, see what it can do, understand it’s strengths and weaknesses, and have actual data to draw your conclusions from.

I know it’s a marketing video but take a minute and a half to check out this video on Google Glass Explorer Patrick Jackson (video after the break). I freakin’ love technology.

In planning video production sessions for the November LEVA conference, LEVA would like to know what system you use to produce videos. For example, Final Cut Pro, Sony Vegas, Avid, Adobe Premiere, etc. It will help us tailor subject areas that helps ensure the best possible training is provided.

Please direct your responses and any other suggested production topics to Mr. Jan Garvin, LEVA Training VP at training@leva.org.

There have been a lot of updates and upgrades to the Media-Geek.com community over the last two months, but I just haven't had time to pat myself on the back after each one. :)  During some of these upgrades/updates I inevitably created a few conflicts and issues that I'll continue troubleshooting this week.  More importantly I wanted to make members aware that I'll be replacing our entire downloads area over the next week or so, which will be a lengthy process as I intend to verify each file, check versions on documents, and update links in our Wiki.  During this time, I've disabled user uploads to the Download area.  Users can still upload files to other areas of this site, to include the forums, Wiki, etc...  I'll restore the upload capability to our downloads library as soon as time permits.

Positive & negative, in regards to perspective, can both have unintended consequences. While I don’t have any problem with people referring to me either way (Pessimist or Optimist), in my opinion, both are incorrect for me personally. “Oh, so you're a realist.” No, that sh!* is scary; reality. I’m a believer.

I published the remaining few paragraphs over on LinkedIn and have put the link below if you're interested. I was hoping it would be seen by a wider audience. All the best. - LC

Microsoft warned on Tuesday of a Windows vulnerability that could allow an attacker to take control of a computer if the user is logged on with administrative rights.

To be successful, an attacker would have to send an email with an attached Microsoft Word or PowerPoint file containing a specially crafted thumbnail image and convince the recipient to open it, Microsoft said in its advisory, which also contains information on workarounds.

It's a hot topic, maybe not for the general public, but certainly for many of my peers lately. I have yet to meet a Digital Evidence Technician or Analyst who has complained about having too much, hi-speed, secure, expandable & redundant shared storage.  Just sayin'.  😎

Storage & workflow optimization go hand-in-hand when it comes to Digital & Multimedia Evidence.
