I posted a new page last week under our Professional Community menu called Free DME & FVA Tools. Hope you find it helpful.
Ex-Stanford student Ren Ng is just about to launch a new kind of camera that will blow you away. Don’t believe me? Try clicking around on this photo of a Scuba diver standing in front of distant mountains.
The 25th Annual LEVA Training Conference is underway in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. A quick thank you to those who attended yesterday's Ocean Systems presentations. Moments ago I emailed a PDF copy of my morning presentation, "Fundamentals of Multimedia & Screen Capture", to those in attendance who requested it. If you were in attendance and would like a copy, simply shoot me an email.
I'll be attending the afternoon sessions today, lecturing about DCCTV Assessment & Recovery tomorrow, and attending classes Thursday and Friday as well. It's been a great turnout at a great location. Be sure to stop by and see us at the Ocean Systems booth today. Hope to see you there!
An all new year brings an all new look and an entirely different platform for our forensic multimedia community. Our new site has been redesigned from the ground up to simplify information sharing for our members. Let's take a quick look at navigating the all new members area and point out a few important changes.
Maybe you just use the reporting capabilities from your tool of choice to produce PDF forensic reports, and that's great if it's working for you. Acrobat Pro can do so much more than many realize, and I've used it for many years to create interactive reports & demonstratives.
Stumbled on another story this morning about the imminent demise of Adobe Flash & how Adobe just removed it from Acrobat Reader & Pro via critical security bug fixes. Given all the news lately about Flash's scheduled & long-planned demise, it made me wonder if folks would be interested in a Webinar or Meeting on using Acrobat Pro for reports & demonstratives.
To that end, I've posted a member poll in our Community Forums on the topic. Let me know your thoughts by voting on the topic the next time you log-in.
As always, thanks for your valuable time and participation my friends! Be safe out there. ?
You're already used to touch-enabled PCs, tablets, and smartphones, but eventually almost everything in your house could have a touch sensor, including doorknobs, cereal bowls, sofas, water, and even your own body. That's a reality scientists at Disney Research in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania --part of the Walt Disney Company's commercial research arm --are working toward with a new touch and gesture recognition platform called Touché.
Whew. I've been crazy busy lately and have been meaning to throw up a post about this product for a few weeks. It's one of the latest freeware programs I've added to my thumbdrive, which has come in quite handy for resolving various common PC problems via a point-and-click interface. If you regularly get calls from friends, family, co-workers, etc., regarding their PC problems, you might want to consider this neat little freeware ap - Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal
Advanced WindowsCare V2, made by IObit, looks to resolve issues that cause less than optimal performance in Windows based PCs. The personal version:
It has been an amazing and incredibly busy summer for me and my family. I briefly mentioned in a previous post that we moved at the beginning of summer, which was entirely unplanned by the way (!), and no sooner than that was behind us more curve balls were thrown our way. We’ve been so busy swinging as hard as we can to try and knock those balls out of the park that it’s impacted how active I’ve been here on DME Resources. The short of it is this, I am still committed to our online training library and hope to be posting regularly here again soon. With that said, two quick topics to discuss.
A few weeks ago, I was on the March Networks site to download their T263 codec to share with a colleague and cross reference with the version on Media-Geek.com. I was back on their site again today briefly because of another inquiry from a colleague about this codec and noticed that their related support page had been updated to include additional versions of their codec, descriptions on which models of their recorders relate to each version, and separate download links for their proprietary software as well. Here's the direct link:

Please know I am not affiliated with March Networks in any way nor am I attempting to advertise for them. I was simply impressed with the recent update on their site that included this additional detail and thought you may find it helpful. Wouldn't it be great if all DVR/NVR manufacturers included this much information on their support pages? Never mind, no need to answer that. 😎

With faster decoding on multi-core, GPU, and mobile hardware and the ability to open more formats, notably professional, HD and 10bits codecs, 2.0 is a major upgrade for VLC.
USB 3.0 is undoubtedly the future, but tests conducted by Techworld suggest that laptop users in particular might need to upgrade their hardware to see much benefit over current technologies such as eSATA.
